Dark Moon in Aries
by Marie Angeli on Mar.22, 2012, under moon magick, Moon Unit
Hello dears,
Tonight the Moon is in Aries. Tonight the moon is dark. Astrologically, the moon is not a happy camper here. Aries is fiery hot, sterile, dry, the exact opposite of the energies that make the moon thrive. Since we are at the dark of the moon, now is usually the time when one would perform divination and/or pathworking. Although for me personally, I’ll stay clear of the energies tonight for anything except meditation.
I’m not trying to be negative about Moon in Aries at all. Agriculturally, there are some circumstances when this time would be good for things like cultivation or burning off deadwood, or destroying pests. If we are in season or moon phase for harvesting, this moon is a great time to do that. The dry qualities of this fire sign help ensure that the harvest should keep a long time. And for the time after the dark moon, seeding crops now leads to a fast growth. Plants sprout and grow quickly, although not in a stable way. If you are looking to get a crop to market, or a project to the boardroom quickly, tonight and the next couple of nights are the time to start these things. The moon will stay in Aries until about 9:45pm UT or about 5:45pm Eastern, 24th of March.
Again, as we are now past the peak moments of the dark moon, the time to start things that you wish to accomplish quickly is now thru 3/24 5:45pm ET.
Just remember, speed does not necessarily mean stability. The better time to plant or to begin new works will be immediately after the moon leaves Aries, when it arrives in Taurus. This sign is beautifully fertile, and the moon loves being here! Because we are still in the very new moon energies here, what you plant or start will root deeply, with great stability, and strong structure, producing abundant fruits. Business projects are wonderfully begun in this Taurus moon, as well as artistic endeavors. Almost any kind of project, actually!
So enjoy your meditations tonight, and I’ll be back with the moon in Taurus to talk about decorating your new wand.
Blessed Be!

Moon Unit: Full Moon in Virgo
by Marie Angeli on Mar.07, 2012, under astrology, garden, moon magick, the moon
One would think that Virgo, being an earth sign, would be a good sign for planting. It is, if you want vines that bear flowers and not fruit. Honeysuckle vine, perhaps, or that Southern Jasmine you’ve been wanting for your arbor, would be excellent to plant now. Or even that rambling rose could be wonderful, as long as it is a hybrid and not of the kind from which you plan to harvest rose hips. Think plentiful flowers and abundant scent and strong woody vines. Or just lots and lots of flowers!
Virgo is traditionally considered barren, in spite of being a sign of earth. That being the case, a Moon in Virgo will not be a good time to plant anything which you wish to bear fruit. But Virgo also appreciates beauty, and so now is a great time to cover your cottage with things that climb and bloom.
Wait just a bit until the moon goes into Libra. This will happen very early on the morning of the 9th, @5am UT, or late on the evening of the 8th if you in the central and western US. Now here’s a sign you can plant in! Basically anything seeds well in Libra. Yes, the moon will be on the wane when the moon enters that sign, so if we were further into the month, you might want to lean towards plants that fruit below ground, like tubers, or are bulbs, or trees of any kind because of their deep roots. But this moon in Libra isn’t restrictive. Because it is so close to the full, the subterranean tides are high, and the moon energy partakes of the full. So really, go wild. Seriously. Plant plant plant and make the earth a better place.
Alright, dears. This full moon is a lovely time to visit your wand tree again. Or take out that rod you’ve decided to re-purpose and sit in meditation with it, or simply visit your garden and commune. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, after all. Mercury is the messenger, and this is a wonderful time for communication. The full moon is a time when many things that were less than clear before, can now be revealed. As well, Virgo loves details. Time to clear up general misunderstandings! Chat, talk, and discuss amongst yourselves. But beware! Virgo is picky. Because of the focus on detail, sometimes the whole picture can be lost. NOT a good time for relationship revelations, or family matters that involve deep emotion. The nit-picking and judgmental nature of Virgo is not helpful in that case. Yes, you might get to the bottom of who REALLY is at fault, but in the process you could damage some feelings and not help the situation. Keep it light, or keep it professional, or friendly. And if you use this energy correctly, this can be a very good time to discover secrets, forgotten facts, or new ideas. Watch your step and use your common sense. There is a reason that Mercury has wings on his feet! He treads lightly.
Enjoy the day, my dears.
Blessed Be,
Marie Angeli
